- Jumping spiders found in the Great Plains region of the United States and Mexico. With heavy differences in between Males and Females.
With a hard exoskeleton that needs to be shed, segmented legs, two body segments, open circulatory system, and a centralized nervous system. Most land dwelling arthropods don’t have gills instead using small holes in their sides and book like lungs for respiration. With sexual dimorphisum female are tan to brown with black splotches on the abdomen. Males being a darker brown with a red-orange abdomen with black splotches.
There is just nothing about them individual from others in their genus or area. But they most likely eat small insects like most spiders.
They are diecious that is all I can find on reproduction. They are short lived as they mature in summer with the female living till autumn.
They are commonly located in the southern more Midwestern or southern states, but they are more commonly found in Mexico. They are then spotted on cacti, yucca, mesquite, and assorted herbs.
So little information is known about them that NatureServe Explorer has no status rank for them. But They are available for purchase from jumping spider breeders.
